About Us
Camphill Village Kimberton Hills Dairy farm is nestled into a land-based intentional community that includes adults with developmental disabilities. The farming community is part of the international Camphill Movement, founded in 1972. Our mission is to create an environment of self-transformation for the individual to nourish the ability to be in the world in a fuller way and to contribute to healthy social and ecological endeavors.
Our crew consists of ten farmers including villagers(adults with special needs), service volunteers, and co-workers(long-term committed individuals). Together, we form a close-knit team to meet the needs of the farm and animals.
We have a milking herd of 45 cows, the majority of which are Brown Swiss and Friesian. We also have 40 to 50 young dairy calves, heifers, and bulls. We are committed to rotational grazing as a management tool for the health and sustainability of the animals and the land. Our animals are fed solely on diverse pastures from April to November. In winter, they are housed in loafing sheds and fed grass-based silage.
We sell our milk to Kimberton Whole Food Stores within Chester County, PA, as well as, Seven Stars Farm, a yogurt company, and Weckerly's Ice Cream business that is based in Philadelphia, PA.
